FAQ
The more precise the initial information, the more reliably we can determine the price, vehicle and schedule. Here we answer the questions that matter most when planning a shipment.

Please send us the collection and delivery locations, preferred time windows, type of goods, number of packages, dimensions and weight, together with any loading or unloading instructions. For abnormal dimensions, dangerous goods or temperature-controlled transport, we also need the relevant technical data. If anything is missing, we will tell you exactly what we need to prepare a reliable quotation.
As early as possible. Depending on the dimensions, route, and loading location, route surveys, permits, escort vehicles, or fixed crane appointments may be required. After reviewing your data, we will tell you what lead time is realistic for your specific transport.
Please notify us of any changes immediately. Even a few centimetres, a different total weight or a revised time window can affect vehicle selection, routing, permits and pricing. We will reassess the plan and agree any necessary adjustments with you before proceeding.
Yes, provided the time windows are known from the start. We incorporate them into vehicle selection, routing, and scheduling, and confirm what is feasible under the given conditions. For particularly tight slots, we also clarify in advance how to handle potential delays at the loading or unloading point.
For heavy haulage and special transport, ACL coordinates the necessary steps based on the cargo data provided. Our standard quotations include route surveys, official permits and transport escorts in the BF2 and BF3 categories. BF4 escorts and traffic management measures (VLM) are not included as standard and must be arranged separately where required. Complete information about dimensions, weights and loading locations is essential for smooth handling.
For planning purposes, we require the UN number, hazard class, packing group, quantity, and type of packaging. In addition, the ADR transport document and, for ferry crossings, the IMO dangerous goods declaration are required. We review the documents before confirming and will contact you immediately if any details are missing for a compliant transport.
The key factors are the target temperature, permissible tolerance, type of goods, transit time and requirements for pre-cooling, loading and documentation. Temperature requirements vary depending on the cargo, so we define the required range and suitable vehicle technology clearly before scheduling.
You will receive a brief status update from us every morning, together with direct notifications about key milestones such as loading, unloading or changes to the plan. We avoid unnecessary messages so your day-to-day operations are not disrupted. You stay fully informed without being overwhelmed.
A direct or express shipment is the right choice if a production stoppage is imminent, a spare part is urgently needed or a fixed delivery window leaves no room for delay. If the schedule is more flexible, standard part-load or full-load transport may be more cost-effective. We will give you an honest recommendation based on the actual urgency.
